This is a Ford 351 Cleveland shortblock. The shortblock consists of the block, crankshaft, rods & pistons, and harmonic balancer. This shortblock was machined back in the 80's and never used. The work was done at Valley Head Service in Northridge, CA which is a highly respected shop. The rebuilt consisted of a fresh.

30 TRW pistons with new rings, resized Ford forged connecting rods, crankshaft turned. 010 under on the rod and main journals, new bearings, and balancing the rotating assembly.

These parts have been in cool, dry storage since the 80's. Over the years, the block and crank developed some surface corrosion. The cylinders have some light pitting at the rear/back side of the cylinders only which is quite light and can be seen in the pictures.

I imagine this can be used as it is. The crankshaft also has pitting on the journals with the front main journal being more pitted than the rest.

Some machinists say as long as the crank journals polish smooth, pitting is ok since the crank "floats" in oil under pressure and the pits simple hold oil. The crank may polish and be usable or may need to be turned. The rods and pistons were wrapped and boxed and are still just as they came from the machine shop. With a little work, you can have a fresh 351C shortblock at a bargain price.

The parts included are as follows. Casting number D2AE-CA Casting Number: 2L4. Bore Size 4.30-never run with light isolated pitting.

Factory 351C Casting Number 4MA turned. 010 some pitting on journals. 030 Balanced to rotating assembly.

Resized and balanced to rotating assembly. This is a very nice 351C shortblock. Do to the fact that this has some storage aging, I would prefer this to be picked up locally. This is your chance to own the 351C shortblock you have been dreaming of at a GREAT PRICE!
